Date: 19th June 2011.
Course: Wolfedale Golf Course, Charminster
Conditions: Warm and sunny
Adjusting for the usual 20-shot difference between us, I lost by five shots.
My opening front 9 of 57 was pretty good, I’ve only been under 60 a couple of times before this year so I was pleased with that. Dad hit a 49 which is about his usual average, nice and consistent. The back 9 was great for him too, scoring a 44 when he usually gets into the 47-52 range. My back 9 was okay, better than most of the year but still 5 shots worse than the previous game. A 10 on the 15th and a couple of 8s which ought to have been 6s cost me an improvement over last time.
Still, we each improved our season’s best by a shot on two holes: 5th and 17th for me, 6th and 16th for him.
Last five rounds at this course (including this one):
I was disappointed when we left the course because I played a better game up until halfway round the back half of the course, but really it was good because it was still better than 3 of the last 5 games. Dad’s improvement was very good, potentially a sign of a jump forwards.
